Meghan Markle has sparked a fresh wave of backlash after sharing a new video featuring intimate glimpses of her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duchess of Sussex posted the 34-second clip on Instagram as she documented her family’s new life back in the UK.
Some have even branded the decision ‘disgusting’ as accusations continue to mount.
Meghan’s children feature in new video
The video shows Meghan, Prince Harry, Archie and Lilibet enjoying a series of outdoor activities after returning to Britain.
The family can be seen walking through the countryside, while Harry takes the children fishing and their Labrador, Pula, runs alongside them.
Lilibet is also seen riding her bike, while another clip shows one of the children warming their feet beside a fire.
Although Meghan does not show either child’s face, their voices, clothing and activities can still be seen throughout the carefully edited montage.
Archie can also be heard speaking, with his American accent attracting particular attention from royal watchers.
The youngster says ‘I got this’ while Harry appears to be helping him with a fishing rod.
Meghan added a Union Jack and red heart emoji over the footage, with the post appearing to celebrate the family’s return to Britain.
Critics accuse Meghan of hypocrisy
The biggest backlash has centred around the couple’s long-running stance on privacy.
Meghan and Harry have repeatedly spoken about protecting their children from the media, with Meghan previously discussing her concerns about paparazzi photographing Archie and Lilibet.
Yet their latest Instagram post gives millions of followers an intimate glimpse into the children’s lives.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Page Six that the move was particularly contradictory given the couple’s stated desire for privacy.
“If privacy is genuinely the priority,” Schofield argued, the simplest solution would be to stop broadcasting family life to millions of people.
She described the footage as ‘hyper-curated’ and said every glimpse of the children, their dogs and their surroundings generates more public interest.
Schofield also questioned whether concealing the children’s faces actually removes the attention surrounding them.
“Archie and Lili are too young to meaningfully consent to having their voices, activities, and private family moments broadcast to millions of strangers,” she said.
She added that ‘hiding their faces does not suddenly eliminate the attention it generates around them.’
Harry’s own past comments questioned
The criticism has also extended to Prince Harry.
Schofield pointed out that Harry has spent years discussing the damage unwanted media attention caused him during his own childhood.
She argued that there was a contradiction between those concerns and participating in the public presentation of his own children’s childhood.
“You cannot deliberately feed that machine and then act astonished or outraged when people want to know more,” she said.
Royal commentator Tom Sykes similarly criticised the polished nature of the video, describing the children’s inclusion as ‘jarring.’
He argued that the footage appeared designed to “sell a narrative of glossy family perfection.”
Sykes also pointed to comments Harry made in 2017 about social media and the way people can portray supposedly perfect lives online.
Social media users react
The reaction online has been mixed, with some viewers defending the Sussexes while others questioned the decision to share the footage at all.
One critic questioned the couple’s approach to privacy, writing that they appear to want privacy while simultaneously showing the public where they live and what their family is doing.
Another commenter said they felt sorry for the children and criticised what they described as their parents’ apparent ‘fame addiction.’
Other critics have previously used much stronger language when discussing Meghan’s posts featuring Archie and Lilibet, with some describing the way the children are incorporated into her social-media presence as ‘disgusting.’
However, not everyone saw anything sinister in the new video.
Some viewers considered it a harmless glimpse of family life and pointed out that Meghan deliberately avoided showing the children’s faces.
Others argued that sharing occasional photographs or videos of children while protecting their identities is not necessarily inconsistent with wanting privacy.
Meghan’s return to Britain
The video comes shortly after Meghan and Harry returned to the UK following several years living in California.
The couple are believed to be settling into life in the Cotswolds, with Archie and Lilibet also having started school in Britain.
Their return has already attracted considerable attention, particularly after King Charles made clear that the couple remain private citizens rather than working royals.
That makes Meghan’s latest social-media post particularly notable, as it offers followers a carefully selected glimpse into the family’s new British life.
For critics, however, the controversy is less about the individual clips and more about the apparent contradiction between demanding privacy while simultaneously inviting millions of people into selected parts of their children’s lives.
And with the debate over Archie and Lilibet’s privacy showing no signs of disappearing, Meghan’s latest video has once again placed the Sussexes at the centre of an online storm.
